The Regional Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts in Sfax, is a regional instance, among 24 other regional unions representing the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts in all governorates of the republic. It is one of eleven (11) Regional Unions which have given birth to the National Instance (constitutive congress of January 1947). The Regional Union of Sfax emerged in the wake of creating "industrial union rooms of small traders" under the influence of leaders of the national struggle, in which Hedi Chaker was one of the pioneers in Sfax and with the support of the UGTT led by Farhat Hached.
Establishing
The Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts of Sfax was founded in 1946, it was the out coming of a long launch campaign of several employer rooms conducted since 1944 under the leadership of an important activist and regional leader: Hedi Chaker. A year later, following the establishment in 1947 of nationally UTICA, Sfax UTICA became the regional body.
